A grizzle coz I love making soap and have too much on hand to be making any more..

Peppermint Tallow Soap recipe

Peppermint Tallow Soap recipe

A nice small batch of soap 12 good chunks of soap.
1 teaspoon of Peppermint oil................I am not sure about using peppermint again.
Add
 140 grams....sodium hydroxide,....
To
 250 grams ....water,....[Put 2 ice blocks in before the water up to the 250 grams.]
Cool to 100 % F

Melt
315 grams....canola oil,...
250 grams....coconut oil,....
435 grams....lard,....
Melt all together to 100 % F

When both are at 100 % F add the lye to the fats
Use a hand blender to get it to trace.
Add the teaspoon of Peppermint oil wisk again to blend the oil in
Pour the soap into the molds,
Cover with a towel for 12 hours
Unmold as soon as it is hard enough, set out to dry.

Opium Lard Soap recipe

Opium Soap.

You can make this recipe with confidence. It is very nice.

 Wear safety glasses and gloves while measuring and dissolving the sodium hydroxide.
Be careful not to splash the soap onto your skin while mixing. I use a 9 litre bucket that I can pour the soap out of.

300 grams of Canola oil
265 grams of Coconut oil
435 grams of Lard.

144 grams of sodium hydroxide
250 grams of water.

Prepare all ingredients by weight.

Add the sodium hydroxide to the water and stir until it is dissolved.
[I put two ice blocks in before weighing the water, it will help with keeping the lye cooler]
Set aside to cool, needs to go down to 100%C

While that is cooling heat the oils and fat to the same temperature.
When both have reached 100%C pour the lye into the fats and start to mix with a stick blender until trace. [ trace is when the mixture will leave a few splashes in the top of the mixture if the blender is stopped and lifted.]
When trace has occurred add 1 teaspoon of  Opium oil, give a mix to disperse the oil then pour the soap into moulds or a loaf mould to set.
Cover soaps and wrap in a towel and leave over night.
This mixture made 12 good sized soaps.
